Food Server for the Homeless and others. Help serve lunch to street people in a way that is dignified and creates a sense of community. If you come earlier in the morning you can help prepare the meals or if you come later you can help clean up and have tea with the community. Please come, we'd love to have you and we need your help.

Training
Provided on-site. 
We are in need and welcome volunteers who feel they can commit at least four hours per week to help serve those in need.
If you are interested in learning more, what volunteering at the mission involves, we invite you to attend a volunteer orientation session every Wednesday at 4:30 pm. This meeting takes place at 155 Broadview Ave.

Parent and child Support Volunteers provide temporary relief from caring for children and the provision of support for at risk parents, with children birth to six years of age. This service will enable parents to take a much needed break from the demands of parenting and attend to their own needs. This could include attending a medical or social service appointment, joining a group to learn new skills or to receive social support. 
The volunteer will act as a resource to these families providing them with the means to discover and connect with social supports in their community. The volunteer will visit in the home for three hours weekly and interact with the children (child) in such a way as to explore and encourage healthy development and growth. Your flexibility and ability to work independently, excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask, initiative and respect for confidentiality provide you with unique characteristics that will bring success in this position. You will pass a criminal reference check. You will deliver early learning services to children such as literacy and interactive learning activities. Identify community resources and utilize them to provide information, referral, advocacy and supports to children and families. You will receive on-going professional training, attend monthly meetings, develop an understanding of how isolation impacts on parenting skills and family life. 
This is a great learning experience and opportunity for those considering a career working with children, family and in the Social Services field. We welcome inquiries regarding student placements possibilities. We are committed to giving students meaningful learning experiences whle offering them the opportunity to practise theory.
